By The Fire
Acrylic 24” x 32” John 21 The breaking of bread and fish on the fire is a reminder at the end of the gospel of John of just who Jesus is and what he had already said about himself many times. Jesus breaks the bread before the fire and in the presence of his disciples one last time reminding them both of who he is as food for their spirits and also of their purpose to be about the harvest. The word for grain, from which bread is made, and the word for fish in Hebrew are from the same root. They both refer to the harvest, one of the fields and one of the sea. The iconic symbols here point to who Jesus is and who we, as disciples, are to be... harvesters in Jesus’ Kingdom.
