Wash Over Me
Wash Over Me

Acrylic 48"x36"  -  Edmonton, 2019 -

[Psalm 42:7]  -

Right from the beginning of worship, David Ruis was singing using water imagery. The title of this painting is from one of those songs. The scene is definitely Canadian. A mountain stream with its icy water brings to my mind how crazy you have to be to immerse yourself completely in the water falls. The imagery, of course, represents the pure life giving power of God that comes to us as we reach out and are sourced by God’s presence. Beneath the waterfalls are the unchanging granite rocks, and beyond lie the timeless evergreens that identify a familiar Canadian landscape. A longing for more is met with more than you bargained for.  “Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls; all your waves and breakers have swept over me.”
