We Cannot Contain All You Pour Out
Acrylic 48"x36" - Edmonton, 2018 [John 7:37, 38] - As I began the painting I had an idea of two hands receiving water filled with light pouring into them and overflowing. The image took form against a backdrop of soft dark and light green shapes as found in a garden. The music that Andy was singing was soft and meditative. Overall, the sense I had during this painting was that God, as source of all life, was meeting us and filling us to overflowing. The Holy Spirit filling us is often compared to fire or light and also to water. This imagery is a combination of both light and water. Jesus said, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”
