The Bridge
Acrylic on canvas 36” x 48” During a worship event at Valley Gate Vineyard in 2014, I painted this image of a land shaped bridge silhouetted against bright light. The sense I had as I painted it was that the bridge has two-way movement upon it and serves in two directions to link different sides. The light beneath is like a dawning of revelation as the bridge is crossed and appears to support or even create the bridge. The figure of a face in the foreground ponders, “What can be experienced outside my world?” Overall there is a sense in this image that encourages the suspending of our thinking to bridge to the other side.
